Tony Shalhoub may have edged out our man for Best Actor tonight, but Steve Carell still walked away a winner. The Office brought home the award for Best Comedy at the 58th Annual Emmy Awards, reaffirming what every one of us has known all along: yeah, it’s that good. Congratulations to the fine folks that work tirelessly to produce the show, all while maintaining an unprecedented level of dedication to their fans. No honor is more well deserved, not even (and I’m risking life and limb by saying this) Jac–I mean Kiefer’s belated win for Best Actor in a Drama Series. Sweet!
For those of you who were unable to tune in, Denise (aka ddker) has uploaded videos from the evening to her MySpace page. Check out the Videos link underneath her profile picture. Thanks, Denise.
Alright, this has nothing to do with The Office, but for God’s sake, if you don’t watch Prison Break, then start. I just polished off Season One on DVD (just in time for the season premiere tonight) and, wow, what a ride. I mean, holy schnikeys. That’s right. Schnikeys. That was some closer. The finale was as terrific as terrific can be; coronary-inducing, even. It would have done Jack Bauer proud, and believe me when I say that is a very difficult honor to obtain. Prison Break has all the hallmarks of a show worthy of my obsession: tremendous production values, a riveting pace, and most importantly, characters that you genuinely care about. The finale left a few of them in rather dire circumstances (one of whom was a favorite of mine who I pray makes it to Season Two), so I am very eager to see where things pick up tonight. All and all, more than enough to claim a spot at the winner’s table beside The Office and 24.
Don’t worry, though, I haven’t forgotten about Michael Scott and Co. In particular, I wanted to thank everyone who participated in our iPod Giveaway. You all did a brilliant job, which will make selecting the winners all the more difficult. Tanster and I will be reviewing the entries shortly. Stay tuned for the final results.
Kathie, your fearless leader over at Give Me My Remote, will be hosting live chats for Office fans every Thursday night starting today and continuing throughout Season Three. The party gets started tonight at 8:30 PM EDT with a possibility for some west coast action later in the evening depending on the turnout. Kathie runs with what we like to call the cool kids, and, really, who doesn’t want to be cool?
In other news, Andi sends word of More Than That for all the Jim/Pam fans out there. That four week wait just got a little bit easier.
Jamie of wallpaper-designing fame has put together a fine collection of Office-themed apparel over at The Office Supply. My personal favorites? Please don’t throw garbage at me for the ladies and Which one is Pam? for all the fellas. Get your order in by August 28 with the coupon code “SUMMERSALE06″ to get 15% off your purchase. Sounds like a deal to me.

Thanks, David, for the shoutout to Northern Attack. David is entering the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on September 17 to raise money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation ($5000 to be exact, though I’m confident we can do much better). Hit up David’s donation page if you’d like to make a contribution to his worthy cause.
