Ready, set, go! The race is on to claim Pam though beware, men: wandering eyes are liable to get you ousted from the running. Michael and Dwight head to Philadelphia for an office supply convention and run into a familiar face. Pleasantries are exchanged, followed by a heavy dose of inquisition and absurd posturing. Michael’s plans for a raucous evening are derailed by the conspicuous absence of his right-hand man, no doubt engaging in some debauchery of his own.

Gay Witch Hunt

Summer was kind to some and cruel to others. Pam’s decision to call off the wedding leads Roy to personal ruin while Phyllis inches closer to becoming Mrs. Vance Refrigeration. Determined to make a new life for himself, Jim forges ahead and finds a new sap to terrorize. Meanwhile, Toby experiences an uncharacteristic lapse in judgment and entrusts Michael with a bombshell. Innocent lives are almost lost. Thanks a lot, Toby.

Time to put away those calendars and clear out those Thursday evenings: we’re almost there. I can hardly believe it myself. A little under forty-eight hours from now, we’ll all be huddled at our television sets and the Scranton Summer of 2006 will no longer be a mystery. Until then, here are a few diversions to help you pass the time.

  • Matt has started an Office-themed podcast titled That’s What She Said, also available at the iTMS. Nice work, Matt; there can never be too many angles to this show.

  • Let’s have a warm welcome for Stacy, David, and their latest entry to the Office blogdom: All the Clovers : A Daily Quote Blog for The Office. Those of you looking for a reason to stop by need not look further than the Friday Night Double Feature. I’d explain it myself but, really, I can’t.

  • This one’s a bit of a straggler. The verdict is in on the Season Two DVD set: awesome (thanks, Pat).

Wonderstruck

I popped in Disc One of the newly released DVDs to listen to the first of many commentary tracks, and lo and behold, Northern Attack is mentioned by Jenna and Mindy just over seven minutes into the commentary track for The Dundies (7:02, to be exact). Holy. Freaking. Moley. My day… nay, my year has just been made. Perhaps a few years, even. Thank you, Jenna, Mindy, and all of the wonderful folks here at Northern Attack without whom such a mention would not have been possible for making today one of the greatest Tuesdays of my life.

Oh, and word is that GMMR and OfficeTally both got a little shout-out on the commentary track for Casino Night. Nice work, ladies.

And the Winner is …

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you’ve all been waiting for is finally here. Well, maybe not the moment — that doesn’t come until September 21 — but a moment nonetheless. Jennie and I are proud to present the winners of The iPod Giveaway.

  • Grand Prize iPod Winner :
    Joseph (coupjoe)

  • Runners-up :
    garbagethrower
    Joseph (jj_mcdonough)
    Kristen
    lindsay
    smart little cookie

Congratulations! You all prevailed over some very stiff competition. Each of you will be receiving an e-mail from us shortly with instructions on how to proceed. Please let one of us know if you don’t receive anything by the end of Wednesday, September 6.

An extra note to the five runner-ups: you all may recall us promising an Office episode from the iTunes Music Store to each of you. We’re afraid that we won’t be able to deliver on that promise; instead, we’ll be awarding each of you a copy of The Office Season Two on DVD. That’s right, come September 12 (or September 13 depending on how shipping works out), the five of you will be receiving a copy of the boxed set delivered directly to your doorstep. We were so impressed with your work that we couldn’t let you all off with a just a single episode; you guys are getting all 22 plus more supplemental features than you can shake a stick at. Course, you’ll want to cancel your existing pre-order if you already have one.

On a final note, we’d like to thank Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, David Denman, Brian Baumgartner and Kathie from Give Me My Remote for providing us with five brilliant questions. Thanks to you all, we only had to worry about coming up with three clever questions rather than eight.

And that, folks, concludes The First Annual OfficeTally/Northern Attack Summer Giveaway. We don’t know if there will be a Second Annual Giveaway, but given how much we enjoyed running this one, we’d sure like for there to be a follow-up next year. Plus, so many of you deserved recognition for your entries this time around that we’d like for everyone to have a second shot at winning next summer. No guarantees that we’ll be able to secure another iPod, but we’ll see what we can come up with.

Again, congratulations to the winners, and thank you, all of you, for participating.

That’s right, people: one hundred and twenty-four pages of responses for the iPod Giveaway. After reading them all, I have a newfound respect for you all. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve always thought very highly of the OT and NA crowd. Shows like this breed an exceptional following, but some of this stuff is just too good. I mean really, really good. My only regret is that we can’t hand out iPods to the lot of you, though we may have something up our sleeves yet…

Tanster and I will be convening at some point over the long weekend to make our final, extraordinarily difficult decision. Till then, have a wonderful and relaxing break.
