Emmylicious!

Sunday27 August 2006

Tony Shalhoub may have edged out our man for Best Actor tonight, but Steve Carell still walked away a winner. The Office brought home the award for Best Comedy at the 58th Annual Emmy Awards, reaffirming what every one of us has known all along: yeah, it’s that good. Congratulations to the fine folks that work tirelessly to produce the show, all while maintaining an unprecedented level of dedication to their fans. No honor is more well deserved, not even (and I’m risking life and limb by saying this) Jac–I mean Kiefer’s belated win for Best Actor in a Drama Series. Sweet!

For those of you who were unable to tune in, Denise (aka ddker) has uploaded videos from the evening to her MySpace page. Check out the Videos link underneath her profile picture. Thanks, Denise.

Though feeling deprived tonight of another assuredly hilarious acceptance speech by Steve Carell, and of the elation that we all would have felt that the voting members had gotten it right, they came through in the end. Woo hoo! Congrats to all involved in the show.

Didn't they all look fabulous? And Conan looked like a proud papa. Speaking of Conan – funniest/best awards show opening I can remember!

Oh, i couldn't agree more w/ everything you said. Steve was robbed, hands down. But that beginning when Conan dropped from the ceiling into the office, and even had his own talking head: hilarious!!!! Yay Office for the win! Even if Steve was robbed! Woot!

[grumble]

Not to be a sore loser, but Tony Shalhoub has not done anything with his character, IMHO, since the first season. He and "Monk" are one of those "popular critics choices" (like Frasier kept racking up awards long after it had unfortunately jumped the shark), not that it necessarily deserved it.

And this comes from a huge fan of the first season of that show.

Still, best comedy is nothing to shake a stick at. Good work, guys.

Congratulations to The Office! They all look so happy on stage. I was so excited for them. I have to admit, after Steve's loss, I got a little worried.

Garbagethrower, I agree - I bet Steve's winning speech would have been hilarious. Ah well, we'll just have to hear it NEXT year.

Conan did a great job as well. I loved when he expressed his excitement over the The Office win. Also loved the Emmy Accountants segment. Haha.

Congratulations to the cast and crew! What a happy Monday this must be for all of them.

So glad I stayed up and saw them win! I thought Jenna looked so beautiful in her dress. I'm dying to know what makeup she used. Her eyes looked stunning.

Count me among the excited this morning [well, and last night]. I'm so proud of this show and everyone involved in it! I'm just so happy this show got the recognition it deserved. Sept. 21 can't come soon enough.

And yeah, a little disappointed by Steve's loss. Even Tony Shaloub sounded in his backstage interview like he thought Steve was going to win. That being said, I was disappointed when Jenna, John and Rainn didn't get the recognition they deserved either. At the same time, I think that says alot about the ensemble nature of the show. You don't have to put the series on one person's shoulders and hope they can carry everyone else along with them. This totally is a team effort and a team win.

Was my girlfriend and I the only ones to notice that Mindy Kaling flashed the entire nation for a brief moment?! If you have it on TiVo check it out. Just as the producer begins to speak (great speech BTW), a skinny brunette is giving Mindy a hug and as she walks away from her she accidentally brushes Mindy across her chest. We couldn't believe what we saw, and you can tell from the shock on Mindy's face that she couldn't believe what just happened either!

OMG, Kenny, you're right. I missed that the first time because (funnily enough) the Golden GLOBE graphic on the screen was obscuring the exposed area. But if you go back and watch frame by frame you can see it. Although perhaps for Mindy's sake, we shouldn't do that. I thought her dress was lovely, by the way.

Wow, I just watched that video about Angela "getting ready for the emmys" on the nbc website and like many have said before, she is like the complete antithesis of Angela Martin in real life. It was quite shocking.

Oh, and man, she is much hotter in that video than on the show. Drool.......

Well, it's what we here on NA have known for quite some time...The Office is the best, most outstanding comedy series on television! The Emmy's were "off the hook" last night and it was tremendously satisfying to see our favorite show win. Wooooo!

I thought Conan did a great job. I couldn't believe he "dropped" into Dunder Mifflin, Dwight blamed Jim, and Conan got his own talking head. Oh man...priceless.

What a great night for The Office...cast, crew, everyone else involved, and all of us, the fans.

I am so glad The Office won for best comedy, how wonderful, it was such a great night!! I literally jumped out of my chair win they won, hahaha. Everyone looked so gorgeous but I just wished Steve could have won best lead actor, that would have topped the cake!! Oh well, he HAS to win next year, he's to great to not recieve his own Emmy.

And oh my gosh, Kenny, you are so right!! I didn't realize that!! Poor Mindy!! Thank God for that Golden Globan statue that was rotating, lol!!
