Alright, this has nothing to do with The Office, but for God’s sake, if you don’t watch Prison Break, then start. I just polished off Season One on DVD (just in time for the season premiere tonight) and, wow, what a ride. I mean, holy schnikeys. That’s right. Schnikeys. That was some closer. The finale was as terrific as terrific can be; coronary-inducing, even. It would have done Jack Bauer proud, and believe me when I say that is a very difficult honor to obtain. Prison Break has all the hallmarks of a show worthy of my obsession: tremendous production values, a riveting pace, and most importantly, characters that you genuinely care about. The finale left a few of them in rather dire circumstances (one of whom was a favorite of mine who I pray makes it to Season Two), so I am very eager to see where things pick up tonight. All and all, more than enough to claim a spot at the winner’s table beside The Office and 24.
Don’t worry, though, I haven’t forgotten about Michael Scott and Co. In particular, I wanted to thank everyone who participated in our iPod Giveaway. You all did a brilliant job, which will make selecting the winners all the more difficult. Tanster and I will be reviewing the entries shortly. Stay tuned for the final results.
Ooooh, that was cutting it a bit close, wasn't it, James? ;)
I am so excited for tonight!
(So who's your favorite PB character?)
I'm sorry to hear that, Kayla. I will say this: the longer you hold out, the less time you'll have to spend agonizing through the week-long wait between new episodes.
Jennie, there are so many to choose from. Who knew convicted felons could be so likable? Scofield, of course, and Abruzzi ranks pretty high up there (Peter Stormare's wicked drawl never gets old). Plus, I have a weakness for women in lab coats, so, well, you can see where that's going.
Yay James! I have always loved Prison Break. My roommate and I are super excited for tonight. She even decided not to take a class because it would conflict with watching PB. That's dedication!
As a HUGE fan of 24, I found Prison Break last year and was equally thrilled by it. My Monday night double-fix of Prison Break and 24 was almost as perfect as my Thursday night Earl and Office fix! So glad to see my fellow Office fans have such great television taste across the board!! Well done, Northern Attack! :-)
Actually it seems, based on the season premiere last night, that they might have even STRONGER writing for this season.
---- PARTIAL SPOILER ----
I was not expecting that ending at all last night, and I cant remember that happening to a major character in the FIRST episode of a season.
---- PARTIAL SPOILER ------
Tried to be as vague as possible there. ;-)
Anyways, I've been addicted since the premiere last fall. They did a phenomenal job with casting, especially T-Bag.
Right back at ya, CZJ and Wendy.
I agree, Pat D., they kicked things off last night in fine form. I was watching the making-of documentary included on the Season One DVDs last night, and it's unbelievable how little Robert Knepper resembles the character he plays onscreen. T-Bag is one of most feral and menacing characters that I've even seen on television, but you'd never know it from watching and listening to Knepper.
Man, I am really getting into this show. I smell a Prison Break blog coming...
I'm kidding of course. Totally kidding. Maybe.
You could always make a second site, a tribute to Prison Break....call it um....
T-Bag's Tea Time?
;-)
I just got back from a few days away, and am delighted (James is smitten!), crushed (whaaat? I missed the S2 premiere?!) and consoled (whew—repeat is on tomorow.) The show is one of my few must-sees, and I never thought I'd be into a prison show. Great cast, inventive (ok...sometimes logic must be suspended slightly but I can handle that) premise/storylines and whoa...a labful of chemistry between Michael & Sarah. I think I commented on their Kiss on the best kiss thread. Yeah, James, clone yourself, start a PB site and I'll never get any work done.
It is awfully tempting, garbagethrower, the idea of a PB site. Having run NA for nearly a year now, I've got a pretty good idea of what sort of time is required to maintain a site like this; rolling out the PB analog of NA would require a major restructuring of my daily routine (i.e., I'd have to ditch my full-time job), but I wonder if maybe there's a possibility for some sort of collaborative effort here. Clearly, we have several PB diehards in our midst. If a couple of them were willing to hop on board and contribute to writing duties, I could probably find the time to handle the technical and design aspects of the project.
Anyway, this is all wildly hypothetical (and sounding a tad ambitious at the moment) until I can finish off the one big project remaning on my plate (still shooting for the end of September, at which point NA should be kicking back into high gear). It's possible nothing will come of this, but hey, you never know. Drop me a line, any of you, if this sounds like something you'd like to do.
spoilerish
Wow...they're off & running. Great season opener. Gonna love all the locations—I already appreciate being out of prison. So to speak. The FBI guy is gonna be a great foil for Michael. He totally gives me the creeps. And the death was a shock...sure didn't see that coming. But Michael in a crisp suit...all is forgiven. Hoo boy. One smile and I'd hand over my car keys.
The action of the show is great, but what will keep me glued is watching Michael and Sarah inch towards eachother throughout the season. Yeah, familiar.
gt, it was weird, i kind of felt sorry for you ((( first episode SPOILER ))))) ((((( though... its been on a couple times, so no, NEVER MIND )))) i mean we all knew someone you "knew" was going to die and here you were all excited to see the show and we couldnt say anything and well it was kind of sad.
anyway, i'm a big 24 fan, but never got into prison break last year because of the setting. same old gray walls every ep. this year, now that they are outside, i'm in and looking forward to it. the fbi guy gives me the creeps too, because of course, he's an alien. man, i miss invasion. it did not deserve the ax. i hated to see the guy pop up here because it meant the show wasnt going to resurface on scifi or anywhere else.
This has nothing to do with Prison Break (great show that it is) but did anyone see the NBC Fall Preview show on Sci-Fi channel. It was all tied together with vignettes by the characters from "The Office". If you didn't catch it on Sci-Fi it supposed to play again 8/25 at 8PM EST on E! Then again on 8/30 at 9AM EST on E! and also on 9/2 at 8PM EST on NBC and finally on 9/6 at 11:30 AM EST on E! Check TVguide.com for your local times. It was pretty funny, I'll let you find out on your own about Michael's 13 inches.

Robin Tunney (Veronica) is one fine poker player. Too bad about the bullets, but I'm sure we'll be seeing her around...if not in another series then on the poker shows. Personally, I love seeing the girls whip the guys. ;)
This site just keeps on getting better and better. I knew The Office was number 1 around here, but never thought the respect levels were so high for two more of my favorites, 24 and Prison Break.
I will agree, I think everyone brings so much to the show and that its cast is such a great ensemble. It really has everything working for it right now and it leaves me hanging every week.
I just got Disc 1 in the mail from BB Online, so I guess I'll begin my new obsession tonight. Thanks, James :-)
My wife doesn't understand my obsession with both the Office and PB. (although she will watch PB to see what happens) But you guys do. That makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I think the single best moment of this week's episode of PB was...
Spoilerish?
the look between the FBI guy and Michael in the elevator. What a face-off. Bring it all season long baby.
I've seen episode 1, and I'm hooked. I officially have a New Television Obsession.
SPOILER
I heard about the kiss at the end of season 1, and I found it on the web (OK, so I searched for it. Not difficult to find, since it's all over YouTube, just like everything else in the world). Hot. Wow. As if the whole "breaking out of prison" storyline is not compelling enough.
Episode 3
A couple of random thoughts: how great was it to see and hear Linc and Michael laugh out loud for once? And though I did enjoy Invasion before it got canned (stopped watching towards the end though, guess I wasn't the only one) I'm very glad PB got William Fichtner (FBI agent Mahone). Yes, I looked up his name. The guy is riviting to watch. What is his story with the old case, his gazing oddly at his reflection in the water and the pills? Theories?
Only problem I have with Mahone is he seems to be a near copy of Sam Girard from The Fugitive...other than that he is another fantastically casted character you just love to hate.
The guy who plays Bellick (sp?) is quickly climbing that mountain too. Cant wait to see what he does in next week's ep. Oh yeah, and it looks like Mr. T-Bag is back for some evilness next week too.
Probably some spoilers in here, just to warn you...
I just watched the riot episodes back-to-back. My skin is still crawling. I'm trying to figure out how any of this can end well. I don't mean plot-twist, gee-I-didn't-see-that-coming kind of end; I mean end at all. Michael's paper crane to Sara (yes, I'm watching Season 2 even as I am still watching Season 1 for the first time - shame on me) read, "There is a plan to make all of this right." And yet there are some things that can't be made right already. Many people, innocent and otherwise, have had their lives changed and/or ruined by this escape plan; just in the riot alone, it looked like dozens of people were injured or killed, including guards. Even if Lincoln is innocent and should be free, does that mean that innocent people should be hurt or killed? What about all of the people T-Bag has killed and/or will kill in the future? Are they just and worthy sacrifices for the Freedom of Lincoln? And am I a bad person if I can see all this, but while I'm watching I'm sometimes just concerned about Michael and his brother, regardless of what else is going on? I'm goin' to hell, for sure. I'm going to put all of this moral ambiguity aside for now and go watch Episode 8.
Hi, I'm new here and only stumbled across this page in search of evidence about my THEORY ON WATER STARING. (this is one of the few sites which googled up mentioning the water reflections in prison break).
slight spoiler
Stand alone, it seems the reflection of Mahone has something to with his 'drug addiction'. Like, he's struggling with his darker side to fight the urges or something.
My theory??
Dont know if anyone else has watched the show Invasion which aired last year (forgot what network), which starred William Fichtner (agent Mahone of prison break) as a sheriff (what a character transition) who gets 'infected' by an unknown, invading species from the sea. A symptom or characteristic of said infectees is that they have an obsessive fascination with WATER! Dripping taps, rippling puddles etc...
end spoiler
Invasion was probably the last show/job that Fichtner did before Prison Break (might of been where he got scouted from for PB season 2, considering the similar roles). Invasion was meant to be a one season series, but of course, ended open-endedly, or got cancelled. Depending on how well the ratings for Invasion go for the reruns on Sci Fi channel go (or some other channel??) somone might pick it up again for a second season!!!
Not to sound like im promoting the wrong show on the wrong site, but i loved Invasion, as a sci fi/drama series and Fichtner was quite dominant in it (basically Jack Bauer representative in Invasion). So if you find yourself a fan of Fichtner and his odd water obsession, give Invasion a go!
Sorry for the long rant by my random self, hope that helps explain the water thing, unless they totally bust me later on in the season lol But I'm pretty confident thats the implication here, the water staring sequences by Fichtner is Deja Vu for me everytime! Maybe it's just Fichtner trying to promote Invasion, GOOD ON HIM!
I have to hope it has more to do with "Prison Break" than with "Invasion." They focused on T-Bag stepping into the water hole on the walk to the subdivision, too, so I think the water has something directly to do with an upcoming plotline. Oh - and C-note jumped into the water from the train. And Michael and Lincoln had a conversation about how one of the first things they would do after they got the money was take a shower. I know water is elemental and all, but maybe they're establishing a symbol here, or a trajectory for an upcoming plot.
It would be pretty bizarre if the "Prison Break" team let the new guy promote/campaign for his old show, right in the middle of their current one. That, or it's a brilliant inside joke they have going.
LOL That's what i didnt get, Here's Fichtner from some seemingly random sci fi series that was cancelled, and somehow he gets to promote?! Hence what initiated my search and lead me here. But the water connotations are really that strong to Invasion, maybe it really is just VERY coincidental plot devices, and we're yet to see how all this water is going to make sense in Prison Break. But for it all to tie up somehow later, feels more like Lost clues...
It's stupid, I know, but I refuse to watch Prison Break because it replaced Arrested Development midseason after AD was cancelled.
Eh, I'm Irish and Bostonian; I'm stubborn as all hell.
