I agree with Black Pepper Snake. I didn't mind the lack of JAM --- those two have been annoying for quite a while now --- or the lack of 'plot.' There were some fantastic moments in this ep, but overall, Michael trying to out-do Darryl and Tobey was too much of what we have already seen multiple times in the past.

I think this episode seemed weak to me because it was a typical "Micheal tries to out-do the standard office presentation (Diversity Day, Sexual Harassment) which results in an over-the-top akwardfest" Except that his preparations remove him from the office entirely this time. That leaves the office basically plot-free, much like in 'office Olympics'.

I'm not saying a plot-free office is bad, that's kinda the point of the show, sometimes the funniest things happen when nothing is happening. (the betting made for some great one-liners) But the other (extra-office) plot needs to pick up the momentum slack, which Micheal and Dwight on the roof didn't do for me. (As opposed to inspecting and buying a condo in 'Olympics') All they got done was covering Stanley's car in watermelon before the plot-arcs rejoined with the surprisingly short climax of talking Micheal down.

I'm actually surprised they didn't start taking bets on whether he'd jump while Darryl defused the situation. I had 5 bucks on him taking the plunge accidentally.

i'm surprised no one is really talking about the part when michael and dwight started there scheming. dwight's "what are we going to DO!!!" cracks me up everytime. blatant over-acting was exactly what was needed.

then on top of that, dwight thinking the real killer being "wolves." GREAT timing!

and, of course, the depression quilt. between the quilt and the shunning, dwight is showing him amish background more and more!

Not quite sure why everyone keeps knocking this episode. I thought it was quite hilarious.

i thought this episode was really funny. it had more of a season 1&2 feeling to it where individual episodes could stand on their own and not rely on the week to week drama. the betting was well done, and the bouncy castle - GENIUS!

one thing that bothered me - the background was obviously southern california when michael and dwight were on the roof. maybe i just noticed because i live here, but it didn't stop me from laughing nearly to the point of tears.

i also thought it was nice to have a break from the jim/pam drama. i think their characters are the best when they interact without the whole "will they/wont they" question looming over the episode.

I can see why some people weren't crazy about this episode - but to me, it was the funniest of the season. Between Darryl, the betting, and Michael nearly "killing himself pretening to kill himself," there were just so many laugh-out-loud moments in this one. When Kevin gave the recap of who won what after Kelly got done explaining Netflix to Ryan, I literally almost died. Then like 10 seconds later, the Creed potato scene made me laugh even harder! And while the storylines weren't advanced in a big way, it was great to see Jim and Pam NOT being awkward around each other.

Loved this episode! So many funny moments, the cold open was one of the best in a while and Dwight was fantastic the whole way through. Shun and Re-shun, that was awesome. I actually liked that there wasn't much JAM, although enough of a hint of it to give some hope. Looking forward to seeing how things go from here.

Not my favorite episode but I did love the bettng sub-plot. And JAM confused me this week. How did Jim go from barely talking to Pam/insulting her to being friendly with her?

I really liked this episode. It is a great stand alone episode, instead of the instense story arcs, like someone else said. It actually kind of reminded me of "The Fire", the way Jim and Pam were working together. The way they kept standing together, and then the way they ran back from the castle together to talk to Michael reminded me of how they went over to talk to Dwight, when he was sitting in his car, listening to "Everybody Hurts."

But yeah, probably one of my favorites so far this season. There haven't been too many episodes this season, especially since "Branch Closing", that could stand on their own, I think this ep deserves a nod on that alone.
