I think that the last episode of the season will probably be the wedding. However, I don't believe that they will resolve anything. In the great tradition of television, I would bet money that it will be a cliffhanger. Now, what that would involve, I have no idea; but I don't think that we will find out anything significant until season 3. I wish I wasn't right because I don't want to wait ALL summer in anticipation, but really, I bet you we will all be left dying of curiousity.

*Blake*, I was also running that scenario through my head. It's definitely possible that the wedding will go through as planned. Course, and I know I'm stating the ovbious here, I don't expect that the Jim/Pam dynamic is going to just go away; Pam needs to have some kind of escape route in order for the show to maintain what I feel is a key part of its identity. The trick is in how to deal with the issue of marital strife without detracting from the show because at that point, the show threatens to become something it's not.

As I said earlier, though, these are talented people. If someone had pitched me this notion earlier of a genre-bending show, one that could be incredibly funny one moment and then incredibly not the next, I would have said not possible. And yet, here we are with a show that does just that every week. So, yeah, if there's anyone that can make it work, it's the people in charge of this show.

I think that we're going to witness some great television en route to this wedding. Regardless of whether it happens or not, I'm confident that Jim/Pam is here to stay.

Add me to the list of people who would not want to see that. :)

My guess is that Roy at some point will get caught cheating/flirting heavily and Pam will pull out of the wedding. Of course, that would be rather cliched, but I think even so I'd rather see that then them go through with the wedding.

James,

As difficult as it would be to endure, it's very feasible that we see a Roy/Pam wedding (I don’t think I could read the Jim/Pam index afterwards). It would be very real to see an unhappy marriage and possibly even deal with serious issues such as separation and divorce later on (I’m going to make the logical assumption that Pam/Roy don’t live happily ever after). I don’t really like the idea and based on my conversations with other office fans they don’t either, but it may very well happen. I can envision a Season 3 storyline where Jim moves on with his life while Pam deals with a failing marriage. That would definitely reverse the Jim/Pam roles as we gradually see her coming to the realization that she’s with the wrong guy. I actually think the writers could accomplish a similar goal (the reversal) by just having the wedding delayed. Provide Jim with a significant love interest and/or have him leave the office for another job. Thoughts?

Actually, *Elly*, you can thank *flotsette* and her closed captioning feed for that Sudoku bit. It makes transcribing a whole lot easier; otherwise, I'm pretty sure I would have been stumped with that one as well.

As for the Jim/Pam timeline, my guess is that they'll kick the show a couple months into the future. I can't imagine them not showing us the wedding by the season's end unless they end up breaking it off, a not so unlikely scenario given the history of this engagement. Then again, if there's one thing I've learned from watching this show, it's that the writers are tough nuts to crack. And not just from an unexpected plot development point-of-view; for all of its zaniness, the show still grounds itself in real life. That in of itself is not that extraordinary, but the fact that they're able to translate it into engaging television is.

Either way, all signs point to a resolution of the wedding situation by the end of season two, whether it happens or not.

*Brenzes* and *Sarah*, nice catches on Meredith and Oscar. I'll have to look for those the next time around.

On my second viewing of the episode, I picked up on something Michael said to Pam almost under his breath. He said "I am Pam" ala Sean Penn in I Am Sam, then mumbled something about "Spicoli" (Sean Penn's character in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.)

I also love how the writers totally satisfy loyal fans, like when Packer is on the phone and calling Michael "gay", you just want to know if Oscar is watching, then sure enough, we see one shot of him. That's just good writing. I hate other shows that feel like they must explain everything to the audience.
