Wonderstruck

Tuesday12 September 2006

I popped in Disc One of the newly released DVDs to listen to the first of many commentary tracks, and lo and behold, Northern Attack is mentioned by Jenna and Mindy just over seven minutes into the commentary track for The Dundies (7:02, to be exact). Holy. Freaking. Moley. My day… nay, my year has just been made. Perhaps a few years, even. Thank you, Jenna, Mindy, and all of the wonderful folks here at Northern Attack without whom such a mention would not have been possible for making today one of the greatest Tuesdays of my life.

Oh, and word is that GMMR and OfficeTally both got a little shout-out on the commentary track for Casino Night. Nice work, ladies.

You said it, James. Super freaking cool.

OfficeTally.com, GMMR.com, AND NorthernAttack.com get mentioned in the "Casino Night" commentary- 7:48 to be more precise.

James...can you believe it? I was so floored that they would mention our sites, and although I knew it was coming, I was still shocked. And the first mention of NorthernAttack.com by Jenna...I didn't know it was coming and I was super excited (hence my IMs to you). I still can't believe it!!

Congrats, James! I can't wait to hear it with my own ears. I expect a few more visitors to our little hangout here (what is the max occupancy, anyway? You may need to rent some chairs.) We knew you with in with the cast, but a DVD mention is huge.

Congrats to OT & GMMR too!

Congrats you guys!

I was totally going to tell you about this as I just got my prize yesterday for the Ipod contest. The DVDs are awesome! By the way, the Creed desk topic was by far my favorite to write about so thank you very much for the acknowledgement. Speaking of Creed, how awesome was he playing the guitar in those deleted scenes?!

I noticed all the mentions too! I would die if I knew they were reading my page! And they knew them right off, so that must mean they frequent the site.

Congratulations guys!!

Congrats. Now we need to get you guys on the Prison Break Season 2 DVD.

Lets go, James....chop chop. I want to see a Prison Break site by next week. ;-)

Thanks, everybody!

No, I think our next project should be 24. ;)

Congrats! Two mentions on the DVD commentaries! Great Job!

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Congrats!

I saw that and then got all excited and kept checking the site to see if you'd noticed! In 'Casino Night', they thank the three of you for the petition to supersize the finale- so sweet! Congrats!

I got my DVDs today (thanks again, James & tanster!), and went straight to The Dundies commentary. I think I replayed the Northern Attack mention 10 times; at first just because it was so cool (yay James!) but then I wanted to make out the voices...there was definitely a third voice, male, sounding the Northern Attack chorus. I think it was Paul. Can't really tell. The point is, the site was certainly common knowledge by the group. Which should tickle James to no end.

this is very cool yes. but i was just reading the northernattack site and saw where tanster said she's going to do a 24 site! yes!

i dont remember the exact words but, yes!

I'm seconding Pat D.'s comments about a Prison Break Site. I'm on Episode 17 of Season 1 (as I also watch Season 2, obviously) and I have nowhere to post. Nobody within whom I can share witty banter and far-fetched conspiracy theories and amusing verse. I feel a little lost. So although I'm enjoying Prison Break immensely, I'm feeling a bit deprived of an en extra-curricular experience. You've set the bar pretty high with this site, and I'm not going to join any of the "Squee! The guys on "Prison Break" are so hot!" message boards. I'd rather do without. Or wait...

What does "squee" mean, anyway? And I've never watched "24" - is it too late to start?

OT...about 24, I should like this show, since it is produced by Joel Surnow, who produced my all-time favorite drama, La Femme Nikita, but I really just lose interest after a few episodes.

Also, I think Michael Loceff, a frequent LFN writer, has written/produced a few 24 eps. Strange that I have never been able to get into it.

Back on topic (sorta), I dont know if James would get the same kind of support he gets for NA for a PB site, considering that the PB postings on this very site havent budged from 21 since before this weeks ep aired. :-(

15Posted by Pat D. on September 14, 2006

I got a little excited for all the sites they mentioned in the commentaries. That was really cool of them!

16Posted by sara on September 14, 2006

Pat D., I would have a lot more to say about PB, but I know this is a site for "The Office" and I didn't want to muddy up the boards :-) But since you brought it up...

The relationship between Michael and Sara is just breaking my heart; if I dare say it, it's more compelling (and more complex) than Jim and Pam. When he called her and said, "Please don't hang up on me" as his voice broke, I started crying, seriously. I love that the writers created her to be just as flawed as he is (as we all are) and that even if they eventually come together ~ which I have to imagine they will ~ it will still be painful with many loose ends that can't be tied up. I know that some people probably think that she'd be caving in and showing weakness if she ran to him and/or accepted his offer of help, but I disagree. I think the writers are going to have to play heavily on the "have a little faith" motif they've established throughout the series so far and that Sara's just going to have to take a gulp and decide to trust Michael, in spite of all that's happened. That's not weakness...it's faith.

It's a testament to the whole series that in spite of the fact that we know he manipulated her and used her in his escape plan, most viewers still want them together and believe they belong together. He didn't plan on falling in love with her, but he did. I didn't plan on getting emotionally sucked into a TV show, but I did :-) And not just for Michael and Sara. I love all of it.

I'm late to the congratulations train on this one because I waited until tonight to watch the commentaries.... and I just heard the Northern Attack reference! I just had to jump on here and congratulate you. Wow!! I haven't made it to the Casino Night commentaries yet, but congrats to GMMR and OfficeTally as well - that must have been so amazing for all of you to hear those shout outs.

18Posted by lindsay on September 16, 2006

Hey! I literally just heard the mention on the commentary (just got back from buying Season 2) and decided to pay a visit. Awesome that you guys got the mention!

19Posted by outlawed on September 16, 2006

i just heard the commentary as well and decided to pay a visit too. Congratulations! I"d be so psyched too! btw.. jenna also mentioned your site a while back in one of her blogs on myspace (nov 15 2005) didnt she? anyways..its so cool to see how down to earth they are and how they appreciate their fans!.

Thank you, everyone, so very much. I've assaulted all of my friends with the commentaries for The Dundies and Casino Night, and I don't mean that figuratively (consider me tickled, gt). It's been a blast and I have you folks to thank for it.

Here's to another great year at NA, perhaps to be joined by an untitled Prison Break project? Hmm.

"perhaps to be joined by an untitled Prison Break project? Hmm. "

Don't tease us, James. It's Monday.

22Posted by Loaded Teapot on September 18, 2006

Oh man, congrats!! I'm gunna listen to the commentary soon. You so deserve it, this is a wonderful site! Keep up the great work.

23Posted by Noel on September 18, 2006

I got the DVD's bright and early Tuesday morning and I definitely flipped out for you over the mention. I ran to the site and you hadn't posted anything about it yet, so I had to giggle and bounce alone, but defniitely congrats.. that's fucking wicked.

24Posted by Katie on September 19, 2006

So, I definetly wanted to be like...HEY GUYS OMGOSH LOOK WHAT THEY SAID ON THE DVD COMMETARY FOR "THE DUNDIES"!! THEY MENTIONED NORTHERN ATTACK!! HOW SWEET IS THAT!?!?
But then...you already said it, so now I'm feeling slow slash out of the loop. It IS really amazing though, and it shows they actually check out the fansites, versus ...not checking out the fansites? Yeah. ;)

Have you guys gotten voicemails from Dwight yet?

(You can send them to your friends, by entering their phone number. )

I figure since it's a plug for the DVD that lead me to you, I'd let you know.

Yeah. I'm one of those guys that wouldn't be here if it weren't for the mention on the DVD. So thanks, Jenna, Mindy.
